Learn And Master Guitar Review
|
I’m always on the lookout for any kind of online or software guitar lessons that can help me take my playing to the next level. Most of the time, what I find ends up being really strong in one particular area – say, soloing, or chording – but doesn’t really impress me across the board.
I recently came across a program called Learn And Master Guitar which managed to put a lot of other so-called comprehensive guitar learning programs to shame. Let me just say it right at the beginning: Learn And Master Guitar is probably the most complete guitar learning system I have ever had the chance to try out.

At first I was quite skeptical, given my experiences with a few other programs. However what I received in the mail was impressive.

The sheer amount of material provided by Learn And Master Guitar got me thinking that they weren’t kidding when they called it the most complete program on the market. The DVD’s contained video lessons from Steve Krenz, a professional guitar player with 20 years of experience. Krenz has covered many different musical styles during his career, and he’s also played with some big names like Donna Summer and The Fifth Dimension.

What I liked about the lessons is that they really focused on a specific aspect of playing guitar instead of just glossing over many different topics all at once. The DVD’s are divided into 3 sections. First Krenz provides a video lesson, which is followed by an in-depth video tip section that talks about gear, equipment and guitar care. Finally, something called the ‘Workshop’ lets you actually play along with the lesson to practice what you just learned. This is similar to the jam tracks, but isn’t quite as freeform. The lessons themselves cover almost every aspect of playing guitar, from chord construction to lead lines to different musical styles like jazz, rock and the blues. There’s really so much information included in the course that I plan on keeping it as a reference for any future guitar questions I might have.
The book that is included follows along with the material provided on the DVD’s, and is useful to have with you so you can work on techniques when you are not near a computer or TV set. I found the online support to also be quite helpful, as I was able to post specific questions I had on the community discussion board and get clarification on a few different points. This type of interaction isn’t a common feature of guitar learning programs, and I really appreciated it.

Learn And Master Guitar is certainly worthy of the praise that has been lavished on it by the many happy students who have managed to improve their playing through following its instruction. For my part, I know that I was able to work out a few issues I had with my own technique, as well as explore a vast amount of guitar knowledge that helped me become a more rounded player. That definitely made the $119 purchase price worthwhile.
