50 Blues Review
|
It turns out that while it sure is easy to get the blues, it’s a lot harder to learn to play them on the guitar. I had always wanted to find someone who teach me how to take my blues playing to the next level, just like the legendary artists I had been listening to all my life. Unfortunately, the area I lived in didn’t offer me access to the kind of guitar players who could show me the licks and riffs I was hoping to learn.
It was then that I discovered 50Blues.com. When searching for long distance guitar courses, I happened to find this unique blues guitar instruction method that combines a solid technical foundation with 50 backing tracks in the blues genre that I could play along with while I perfected my improvisation skills.

One thing I had learned from all of my blues research was that this genre of music wasn’t something that could be absorbed from the dry pages of a textbook, but rather something needed to be grown and explored organically through playing. What arrived at my house after I ordered the 50 Blues program was a system that managed to give me the background of scales, chords and keys that I needed to navigate the blues, along with hundreds of hours of professionally recorded blues backing tracks.
That’s not all 50 Blues sent me, however. The total package contained a whole bunch of bonuses that I hadn’t even planned on using but which ended up being quite helpful as I got more and more involved in the music.

Needless to say, I got a whole lot more than I bargained for considering the $37 price I paid for the 50 Blues course. The package came with an 8 week money back guarantee, but after a few days it was clear that I would be keeping the 50 Blues course for a lot longer than that. Each of the blues backing tracks that were provided were so interesting to play along with that I got through barely half of them in the first month or so of owning the course. During that time, I learned a lot about how to follow along with key changes, how to structure my own blues licks and how to set up a lead guitar part that would really mesh with the music being played around me.

In my opinion, what helps to make the 50 Blues program one of the best blues lessons I have ever seen is the inclusion of the live backing tracks. The vibe that came off of these recordings was just light years above that of the midi-based tracks I had been jamming along to before. I know that the emotional lift and experience I got from playing along with these backing tracks really helped me to transform my blue guitar playing from so-so to far more polished – and that is exactly what I had been looking for when I ordered the course.
Keep on rockin'!
